It is a black hardcover Encyclopedia volume printed in Chicago Ill., originally printed n 1924 and the second edition was released in 1926.
The title on the side of the cover says “The American Reference Library ~ Encyclopedia…. And Loose-leaf extension service. – Volume 8…. Study Guide, pages 3201-3648′.
The front and back covers are solid black, and on the front cover, it is ‘embossed’ with a picture of the thinking man (guy on the rock with his head on his fist).
The binding/spine picture is an art-like picture of the statue of liberty.
