Is there a limit to decorating an envelope?
So I moved to another state and I thought it would be cool to send decorated envelopes to friends and family. When I looked it up, some sites said it’s perfectly fine while others said that the USPS wouldn’t deliver it. I saw http://www.envelopecollective.com/ and I think it’s probably fine to send a decorated envelope, but yeah…
Someone told me that it’s highly automated now and that decorating an envelope can cause it to be ignored, but when one of my parental units used to work at the post office, any decorated or butchered hand written letter was sent to a machine, scanned, and a human would have to interpret it. So what is the extent of decorating an envelope? I know that the address still has to be visible. I’m not worried about postage, I have enough stamps to send practically anything. Thanks for any help.

As long as you keep a reasonable amount of space around the address, return address, and postage clear of decoration it should be fine.
There are a lot of different types of pre-printed envelopes that make it through all the time… Different pictures, colors, exc. so as long as you keep a square around those ^3 important things you should be fine!
