Acrylic glass/plastic decorative blocks with beans inside?
I remember years ago a friend of mine had this clear plastic/acrylic tile or sorts with dried split peas inside. I remember seeing them with sea shells inside etc. Does anyone know what these are called? I’ve looked all over the web and tried every name, but didn’t come up with anything.

What you’re looking for is a clear 2-part craft “resin,” with “embedments” inside it in your case.
Also sounds like the finished piece you saw was created in a mold.

If the finished item was thinner than about 1/2″ or so, what was used was probably an *epoxy* 2-part clear craft resin (brand names would be Envirotex Lite, Ultra Glo, etc…or even the “bar top resin” sold at some home improvement stores).
If the finished item was thicker than that and also cast in a mold, the resin used was probably a 2-part clear craft *polyester* resin (main brand of that would be Castin’ Craft’s Clear Polyester Casting Resin).
(You could also use the craft resin called Easy Cast which is kind of like both…it does become and little soft with later body heat though, and may become flexible if thin and warmed.)
Btw, epoxy resins are healthier for lungs than polyester resins, but a bit more expensive and more adhesive, as well as not being able to be made into *really* thick items.
Tap Plastics has some videos at YouTube about both types, and there are many other people who use both kinds of resin for crafts and have tutorials/videos too.
Be aware though that a lot of hobbyists don’t seem to realize there are important differences between epoxy resins and polyester resins and how each can be used, so may refer to them by the wrong type (wrong name). And don’t use any resins that are used when making fiberglass, etc–not clear enough.
